MS Excel is packed with awesome features and creating macros is one of them. Though we'll discuss macros in detail later in the course, here we'll be discussing how to add existing macros to the quick access toolbar. We have already seen how we can add ribbon commands to QAT and how to add non-ribbon commands to QAT. This is the next tutorial in this series which will guide you to add macros to QAT.
Add macros to Quick access toolbar
Below are the steps to add macros to the Quick access toolbar in Excel
Click on the Quick Access Toolbar Customization button.
From the drop down list that appears, choose the “More Commands…” option.
Locate the “Choose Commands From” dropdown in the top left portion of the dialog box that appears. The list below this dropdown lists the commands according to the option selected in this dropdown. Initially the “Popular commands” option is selected.
Choose the option “Macros” from the dropdown list.
The list below the dropdown now lists all the Macros available. Locate the macro that you want to add in the Quick access toolbar.
Select the desired macro and then click the “Add >>” button in the right of the list. The selected mocros will be added to the right side list. Click “OK”.
Your selected macros will now be available in the Quick access toolbar.
All the macros that you add to the Quick access toolbar will have the same display icon and the only way to distinguish one macro from the other is by viewing the ScreenTips of the macros.
If you have made some macro that you use very often then it is a good idea that you add this macro to the quick access toolbar.
