By now we have read a lot about customization of quick access toolbar but customizing quick access toolbar doesn't only include adding and removing of commands and buttons, but how to place these commands is also very important. The manner in which we place these buttons also affects our productivity and our speed of working in Excel. In this tutorial we'll learn about how we can reposition the command buttons on the quick access toolbar.
How to reposition buttons on Quick access toolbar?
Here are the steps to be followed to reposition the buttons on the quick access toolbar.
Click the customize Quick Access Toolbar button.
From the drop down list that appears – Click the “More Commands” option.
The Excel Options dialog box will appear with “Quick Access toolbar” category selected in the left panel. Locate the command buttons that you want to move in the list appearing in the right side pane.
Select the command buttons that you want to move. Click the move buttons located at the immediate right of the list. Click the up arrow button to move the command button one place upwards and click the down arrow button to move the command button one place downwards.
You can also add separator symbol between two command buttons. Just select the <Separator> option from the left side list and click the “Add >> “ button located in between the two lists.
A separator symbol will be inserted below the command button that is selected in right side list. This separator symbol will now be visible in the Quick access toolbar.
You can reset all the customizations through the “Reset” dropdown at the bottom right of the dialog box.
Select the first option – “Reset only Quick Access Toolbar” If you want to reset only the customizations you have made to the Quick access toolbar.
Select the second option – “Reset all Customizations” if you want to reset all the ribbon and Quick access toolbar customizations. Be alert while choosing this option as your Ribbon will also be reset to the original state and all your ribbon customizations will also be lost.
It is very important that we remember the different customizations, as it will surely affect the way in which we work and in turn our efficiency.
